The material you need:
1 tbsp of soft body lotion
2 tablespoons of corn starch/flour
1 tablespoon of water
Although these recipes use light ingredients that should be safe for most children, you should always make sure that no one is allergic to these ingredients before using paint.
In a bowl, mix corn starch, lotion, and water. Face paint consists of two parts: base paint and color paint. First, we will make neutral base paint that can be added to whatever color you want. Stir all ingredients until smooth. If you want, add more other ingredients to change the texture of the base paint. The recipe above should succeed in producing good paint. However, if you don’t like the end result, you can add more corn starch so that the texture thickens, or conversely add more lotion to make the texture runny – both up to you!
Put the base paint mixture into a small container. If the base paint is what you want, use a clean spoon to move it to a small container. Ideally, prepare several containers, so, when you make colorful paint, you can store them in separate containers.
Add food coloring. Put a few drops of the food coloring you like into the primer. Stir to mix until the color is smooth and even. You may need to add a little more food coloring than previously thought enough – note, this paint will spread into a thin layer when used.
Make the base paint again and repeat the steps. At this stage, you can repeat the steps above, using different colors, to create rainbow colors. Remember, keep each color in its own container so that it is not mixed with other colors.
